31/03/2022: “Joromi” by Sir Victor Uwaifo

I often find the scratchy, raw recordings made by smaller artists in the past quite pleasant. They are warm – and with a strong song, you soon forget the harshness.

So it is with this recording of “Joromi”. The guitar and bass fuzz away contently, the ear-worm lyrics breaking slightly at their peak like tropical waves. And a frenetic effort on the bongos marshals the affair together like an expertly made piƱa colada.

There’s a few other versions floating around. One is included below, since it’s the same version with higher fidelity. The others a slightly faster and well worth seeking out. I just prefer the original!
