The best drum and bass and jungle tunes from back in the day are remarkable for their relative simplicity.
The frantic, stuttering Amen break drum pattern on this 1995 banger are about as ‘jungle’ as it gets. But so too is the dark, paranoid reese bassline, and the out of context, warped female vocal samples.
There are actually two different songs used here. The first is “Mainline ’90” by The Jason Load Experience featuring Iyona (1989).
The second, surprisingly, is Whitney Houston, with her classic ’92 track “I Will Always Love You”.
Rich in atmosphere, strong in flow, you can’t ask for more!
