If this was any more psychedelic it would be banned. It’s certainly a Class A rock tune, regardless!
The trilling bassline ensures a mystical feeling from the start. The vocals seem to draw from the Middle East too with the drawn out intonation. Shocking Blue were actually a Dutch outfit, but this could easily be a San Francisco classic!
Midway through the band let out the sitar, before the track settles into a steady groove again.
The song was released in 1969 on At Home, but gained a new lease of life when Nirvana covered it in 1988 – the band’s first single!
