Released in 2014 on Giles Peterson’s Brownswood Records, ‘Summer Fruits’ is a stunning window into Swindle’s versatile, eclectic sound.
The light, relaxed melodies come in bursts, separated by intense slashes of fragmented vocals. Swindle brings a solid musicianship to a song which would otherwise be a nice beat. Flute, saxophone and piano all add a touch of class.
Swindle, in many ways, transcends the dubstep sound, and continues to push it forward. But in this effort, you still get that streetwise swing, even as he proves his musical mettle.
We could go on; Summer Fruits just turned 5 in October 21 and has lost none of its allure. It could easily be promoted from Tune of 2014 to Tune of the Teenies, such is its magnificence.
I heard a new release today that incorporates its entire structure and chord sequence. A work of art, and some tribute from the other side if the globe.
Except… Brownswood’s globe has no sides, it is continuum.
Thank you
