I must admit, I’m not an expert on Squeeze. That’s partly because “Cool For Cats” is quite different from their other popular songs. It’s much more upbeat, more poppy, more electronic. The bass thrums, the drums pound.
Plus, he sings in a stronger accent compared to many other tracks.
I find the piano section at the end a nice surprise.
The backing vocals are nice too, and the guitar parts – this is just a well put together piece music!
The song is the title track of a 1979 album, which also contains the band’s other big hit “Up The Junction”.
