08/08/2018: “It’s My House” by Diana Ross

Diana Ross became famous as the lead singer of the Supremes, one of Motown’s biggest groups.

So it’s no wonder her solo career was pretty successful…

“It’s My House” is a song written and produced by the husband and wife group, Ashford and Simpson.

The song is R’n’B at its best. The song has a serene swing to it, with dreamy strings, agile flutes, and triumphant brass all floating on the funky backdrop provided by the bassline and hard hitting drums.

And of course, Diana Ross’s singing voice made her a star for a reason. It’s the sort of sultry soul that underpins the whole R’n’b genre in all its iterations.

The song was released in 1979 as a single, and also on the album The Boss.

Lovely!
